Convalidation Class Register for Convalidation Class Convalidation classes are offered for couples who are married civilly (outside the Catholic Church) and wish to have a sacramental marriage within the Church. The Church requires that a baptized Roman Catholic marry before a priest or deacon unless he or she received a dispensation (permission) from the Church beforehand. When a Catholic does not observe this requirement and marries outside the Church, his or her marriage is not recognized by the Church. Couples who wish to have their civil marriage convalidated (recognized) are asked to attend a special marriage preparation program (convalidation class), complete marriage paperwork, and have vows witnessed by a priest or deacon. In the Catholic Church, anyone that has been baptized properly can and should be confirmed. What is Catholic Confirmation? Confirmation is a Sacrament in the Catholic Church in which the one who is confirmed (confirmandi) receives the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the imposition of hand and anointing with oils by the bishop. It’s considered a sacrament of initiation which means that it brings you deeper into communion with the Church. Who administers Confirmation? Knights of Columbus COUNCIL INFORMATION PIUS XII We are the second oldest Knights of Columbus council in the state of Arkansas which was established in May 1904. We are located at 10203 Columbus Acres Road off Brooken Hill in Fort Smith. We have council meeting on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm. Eagle Excellence Annual Fund Eagle Excellence Annual Fund FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Why does Christ the King need an Annual Fund Campaign? Tuition and fees only cover 66% of the full cost to educate a child here and in order to keep tuition affordable, our school relies on parish subsidy, parent-led fundraising programs and our development campaigns such as the Annual Fund to broaden our base of support and ensure financial stability. 2. What is the goal of the Annual Fund Campaign, and how will the gifts be used? Our budget goal is to raise unrestricted cash gifts from donors to meet immediate needs. All gifts received will be used for general operating expenses in the coming 12 months such as: Updating Textbooks & Curriculum Expanding Safety and Security Measures Upgrading Technology Enhancing Art & Music Programs Meeting Rising Utility & Insurance Costs Maintaining Buildings, Grounds, & Equipment benefiting all Ministries 3. Who participates in the Annual Fund Campaign? Donors include parishioners, school families, friends, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty and staff. As well, corporate and foundation matching grants comprise several of our campaign gifts. 4. What is the timeline for this Campaign? The Annual Appeal is run throughout the entire school calendar year starting with our first mailing in November, efforts during Catholic Schools Week and the national day of giving, and our Annual Report in June. 5. Can my Annual Fund gift be matched by my employer? Depending on your employer, most charitable gifts to a private elementary school can be matched. For information regarding your employer's matching gifts policy, please contact your company’s Human Resources office. 6. Can I charge my gift, or have donations automatically deducted from my checking or savings account? Yes to both! Donors can charge their Annual Fund gift to their VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit cards. Gifts can be charged using our Paypal donation link or by calling our office. As well, donor can request gifts be deducted via electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking or savings account following completion of an authorization form which must be signed and returned to the Development Office with a canceled check attached. 7. Can I give monthly or does it have to be all at once? You can donate your entire amount at one time or we can set up recurring gifts so the amount is spread out monthly. 8. What is the school doing to control tuition increases? It is a goal of Father Juan Guido to have a tuition decrease in the next 5 years. We are trying our best to keep tuition affordable, while being fiscally responsible and still meeting the needs of our students. Increased giving to the annual fund will help our goal of keeping tuition as low as possible.

Christ the King Catholic School Trust & Endowment Fund was established in 1994 under a mandate from the Diocese of Little Rock. Its mission is to provide an opportunity for all Catholic children within our parish to receive a Catholic education. Endowment funds are preserved through investments. Christ the King Catholic School uses the earned income from these investments to help maintain affordable tuition, provide additional operating income for the school when needed, allow for capital improvements and enhance the quality of the Catholic education. The expectation is that the principle amount will remain constant and a predictable source of income for the school. The original goal for establishing the base of the endowment was one million dollars. Thanks to donors such as yourself we accomplished this goal in 2013. Our current objective is to continue to encourage and educate parishioners, friends, and alumni to leave a gift to the school in their will or by way of life insurance policies. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Losing a loved one is always challenging, regardless of their age or the circumstances surrounding their passing. Please remember that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We are here to provide you with comfort and assistance in arranging the funeral for your loved one. This can serve as a meaningful and heartfelt tribute, emphasizing the profound mysteries of Jesus' death and resurrection. Therefore, the Church encourages families to actively participate in the liturgical planning process. Planning Your Loved ones Funeral In the unfortunate circumstance of a loved one's passing, Christ the King Church advises the family of the deceased to first reach out to a mortuary prior to coming to the church. Nevertheless, you are welcome to contact the parish office at 479.783-7745 at any time. We collaborate with the funeral director to arrange the time, location, and minister for the service. Cindy Barr, our Funeral Director, subsequently reaches out to the family to schedule a meeting for discussing the funeral liturgy. Following this, she coordinates the service with our sacristans, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, musicians, and the women’s council, should you wish to have the parish cater a luncheon after the funeral. What planning needs to be done for a Funeral Mass? When you meet with the parish staff to plan the details of the funeral, we will help you make and write down your choices for the various part of the liturgy. For the Funeral Mass, you will choose the following: four Hymns, one Old Testament text, one Responsorial Psalm, one New Testament text, and one Gospel. You will also have the opportunity to choose a lector from your family or we can get one for you. Altar servers from your family are always welcome to serve. We can have servers from the parish them from school if need be. Just let us know. (Optional) gift bearers to bring the gifts up to the altar at offertory time. This is especially important during a time of crisis so that the pastoral staff can attend to your spiritual needs and the needs of your family. Also to obtain a permission letter to Baptize at another parish. Census numbers may determine how many priests are assigned to a parish and how many Masses and enrichment programs are planned and scheduled. What about the children who are 18 years of age or older? Children are considered members with their parents until they turn 18 years old.
