Knights of Columbus COUNCIL INFORMATION PIUS XII We are the second oldest Knights of Columbus council in the state of Arkansas which was established in May 1904. We are located at 10203 Columbus Acres Road off Brooken Hill in Fort Smith. We have council meeting on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, With great joy and excitement, I am happy to be a part of the Our Church, Our Future campaign that we began here at our Parish. One of the major responsibilities I have as shepherd of this parish is to faithfully and prayerfully oversee our home, our place of worship. Please join me in praying for the Holy Spirit to guide us as we plan to ensure that Christ the King parish is around to serve the needs of parishioners for many years to come. Our children and grandchildren will learn from the example we set today. Now is an exciting time for our parish as we continue our journey, building upon the faith of all those who came before us. As we begin our Campaign, we are now called to the same commitment and willingness our founding families witnessed by working tirelessly for the great glory and honor of God. In this brochure, you will read about the plans for repair, renovations, and beautification of our church. This endeavor is much more than simply a building project; it is an essential part of the parish mission to nurture the growth of all through worship, education, and service.I invite you to join me as we enter the next chapter of our parish journey. Many parishioners gave their feedback on these projects and discussed their willingness to support them. After reviewing the results of the planning study, the parish has decided to move forward with the renovation and beautification of the existing church building and the addition of a second columbarium opposite the existing columbarium. This 3-year capital campaign seeks to raise $3 million to address these vital needs. We hope that every parishioner of Christ the King will be a part of our capital campaign to begin meeting the needs of our current and future community, and thus to further Christ’s mission! The church currently has a ballasted roof which will be entirely replaced. The new roof will have a shallow slope sufficient to improve drainage and mitigate future damage. The exterior panels will be replaced with a newer and more beautiful design and the remaining structure will be repainted. Interior Beautification Interior Beautification Interior Beautification Interior Beautification Although the church has a number of beautiful features inside, we have a lot of room for improvement compared to our sister parishes. Beauty uplifts the soul towards Heaven and the need for a greater commitment to this virtue has been felt especially when members of our Catholic community are deciding where to receive their sacraments. The beautification of the church interior will include new flooring, refinished or new pews, new paint to better match the iconography of the church, and a new domed ceiling (accommodated by the roof renovations) with a starscape to draw the eyes upwards and in to the heavenly icon in the sanctuary. Columbarium Columbarium Columbarium Columbarium The current columbarium is nearly full. The Church plays a vital role in the last rites of the faithful. Having a place for those laid to rest where family can visit helps the faithful find hope and comfort amidst grief. The new columbarium will be built in a similar position on the opposite side of the church from the existing one. However, the new columbarium system will be more efficient, allowing space for approximately twice as many niches and giving us room to serve our community in this important way for many years to come. Interior Repair Interior Repair Interior Repair Interior Repair Besides general aesthetic improvements, the church also has significant maintenance needs. The HVAC system will be entirely replaced with a newer and better system. The current ceiling is damaged and in need of repair as well and we will take advantage of the opportunity to replace the ceiling and install new lighting to enhance the beauty of the church. Eagle Excellence Annual Fund Eagle Excellence Annual Fund FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Why does Christ the King need an Annual Fund Campaign? Tuition and fees only cover 66% of the full cost to educate a child here and in order to keep tuition affordable, our school relies on parish subsidy, parent-led fundraising programs and our development campaigns such as the Annual Fund to broaden our base of support and ensure financial stability. 2. What is the goal of the Annual Fund Campaign, and how will the gifts be used? Our budget goal is to raise unrestricted cash gifts from donors to meet immediate needs. All gifts received will be used for general operating expenses in the coming 12 months such as: Updating Textbooks & Curriculum Expanding Safety and Security Measures Upgrading Technology Enhancing Art & Music Programs Meeting Rising Utility & Insurance Costs Maintaining Buildings, Grounds, & Equipment benefiting all Ministries 3. Who participates in the Annual Fund Campaign? Donors include parishioners, school families, friends, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty and staff. As well, corporate and foundation matching grants comprise several of our campaign gifts. 4. What is the timeline for this Campaign? The Annual Appeal is run throughout the entire school calendar year starting with our first mailing in November, efforts during Catholic Schools Week and the national day of giving, and our Annual Report in June. 5. Can my Annual Fund gift be matched by my employer? Depending on your employer, most charitable gifts to a private elementary school can be matched. For information regarding your employer's matching gifts policy, please contact your company’s Human Resources office. 6. Can I charge my gift, or have donations automatically deducted from my checking or savings account? Yes to both! Donors can charge their Annual Fund gift to their VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit cards. Gifts can be charged using our Paypal donation link or by calling our office. As well, donor can request gifts be deducted via electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a checking or savings account following completion of an authorization form which must be signed and returned to the Development Office with a canceled check attached. 7. Can I give monthly or does it have to be all at once? You can donate your entire amount at one time or we can set up recurring gifts so the amount is spread out monthly. 8. What is the school doing to control tuition increases? It is a goal of Father Juan Guido to have a tuition decrease in the next 5 years. We are trying our best to keep tuition affordable, while being fiscally responsible and still meeting the needs of our students. Increased giving to the annual fund will help our goal of keeping tuition as low as possible.

Coming Together to Renew our Trust in Christ Christ the King Catholic Church is dedicated to supporting you, your family, and friends as you prepare to honor the life of your loved one through a funeral service. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Losing a loved one is always challenging, regardless of their age or the circumstances surrounding their passing. Please remember that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We are here to provide you with comfort and assistance in arranging the funeral for your loved one. This can serve as a meaningful and heartfelt tribute, emphasizing the profound mysteries of Jesus' death and resurrection. Therefore, the Church encourages families to actively participate in the liturgical planning process. Planning Your Loved ones Funeral In the unfortunate circumstance of a loved one's passing, Christ the King Church advises the family of the deceased to first reach out to a mortuary prior to coming to the church. Nevertheless, you are welcome to contact the parish office at 479.783-7745 at any time. We collaborate with the funeral director to arrange the time, location, and minister for the service. Cindy Barr, our Funeral Director, subsequently reaches out to the family to schedule a meeting for discussing the funeral liturgy. Following this, she coordinates the service with our sacristans, Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, musicians, and the women’s council, should you wish to have the parish cater a luncheon after the funeral. What planning needs to be done for a Funeral Mass? When you meet with the parish staff to plan the details of the funeral, we will help you make and write down your choices for the various part of the liturgy. For the Funeral Mass, you will choose the following: four Hymns, one Old Testament text, one Responsorial Psalm, one New Testament text, and one Gospel. You will also have the opportunity to choose a lector from your family or we can get one for you. Altar servers from your family are always welcome to serve. We can have servers from the parish them from school if need be. Just let us know. (Optional) gift bearers to bring the gifts up to the altar at offertory time. (Optional) You may designate one person to offer “Remarks of Remembrance”.
